Fresh Air Knob

The Fresh Air Knob controls the amount of outside air coming in through the air ducts. The air comes from the roof, and will be the outside temperature — no heating or cooling. Turn the knob all the way to the left for no air. Turn it all the way to the right for full air. You can set it to any position, though you may not notice much difference.

Refrigerator Icemaker Filter

The refrigerator ice maker filter should be replaced every six months. The Replace Filter warning light will come on when it’s due.

Use replacement cartridge: LT1000P, LT1000PC or LT1000PCS. Amazon has them and many hardware stores.

Press and hold the button for several seconds to reset the timer.

Dishwasher Rinse Aid

Dishwasher Rinse Aid Dispenser

The dishwasher has a dispenser for a rinse aid product. It reduces water spots, and plasticware will be drier at the end of the cycle. A light on the front panel will come on when it’s empty. Snap open the dispenser cover and pour some in until it’s full.

A number of products are available at Amazon, grocery stores, and Target. Finish Jet-Dry is common. You can ignore it if you want. Fill the reservoir with water if you want the light to turn off.

Dishwasher Filter Cleaning

The dishwasher has a filter in the bottom. Gunk can accumulate in it and the inside of the dishwasher will smell bad. Remove it and clean it periodically.

Garbage Disposal Cleaning

The garbage disposal has a rubber safety guard. Over time it can get covered in gunk and smell bad.

If that happens, pull the rubber guard out, clean off the gunk, then press it back into place.

Dryer Booster

The dryer has a booster fan in the upstairs bedroom to help move air through the long duct. The booster comes on automatically when the dryer runs. Sometimes the fan comes on when it’s windy outside, which can be annoying at 2:00 AM. The binder clip on the plastic tube is meant to desensitize the automatic switch. It should turn on when the dryer runs, but not turn on very often when it’s windy.

Adjust the clip to squeeze the tube more if it turns on when the dryer is not running. Adjust it to squeeze the tube less if it doesn’t turn on when the dryer runs.
